Chris Jericho: American Wrestling Is Somewhere In The Middle Of Mexico And Japan

Chris Jericho has competed inside the squared circle all over the world and has adapted to several styles throughout his career.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Chris Jericho and Saraya were recent guests on First We Feast. While discussing different wrestling styles worldwide, Jericho believes United States wrestling sits somewhere between the styles of Mexico and Japan.

“I’ve spent a lot of time in Japan and the UK, and there’s so many different wrestling styles that’s different and depending on what country you’re in around the world,” Chris Jericho said. “Like UK has always seemed to be a little bit more technical, whereas Mexico is very cartoon-based because they’re wearing the luchador masks.

“They’re kind of like real-life superheroes. And then Japan is much more fighting spirit, strong style, beat the shit out of each other. And I find like American wrestling is somewhere in the middle of Mexico and Japan.”
