Report: TNA Made Offer To CM Punk, Update On Punk’s WWE Return

CM Punk returned to WWE at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames, but another company at least tried to bring him in.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that, prior to talks between WWE and Punk, TNA/IMPACT Wrestling had made a “major money offer to Punk.” Sources noted that Punk was mulling the offer over. Johnson cited IMPACT sources who indicated that the former world champion was “amazing” in dealing with company executives.

Per Johnson, IMPACT sources felt that they were close to landing Punk. At one point, the company even hoped that Punk would be at Bound For Glory, but that did not wind up happening. The report notes that the conversations between Punk and IMPACT continued after the pay-per-view. However, while IMPACT hoped to score Punk, they realized “the reality” of the situation with WWE. They were said to be happy for Punk upon his return to WWE.

IMPACT talent was said to be appreciative of the time Punk spent and the advice he gave when he attended two television tapings in Chicago earlier this year.

More Details On CM Punk’s WWE Return

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) has also reported an update. Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins were both visibly upset after Punk’s return. McIntyre’s reaction was linked to things broader than Punk, per Sapp. Meanwhile, though it is believed that he does not like Punk, sources believe he is smart enough to capitalize on the situation by working it.

Sapp also confirms Johnson’s report about IMPACT Wrestling’s offer. Both Johnson and Sapp write that Punk is expected to be at WWE RAW on November 27. Sapp notes that most of the show had already been planned without Punk. As a result, there will likely be rewrites to fit him in.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
