Jim Ross: Christian Cage Is One of AEW’s Best Heels

Jim Ross is one of the most respected wrestling personalities of all time. He is one of the top commentators in the business. Being a veteran in the industry his opinions are highly valued by the public. He recently shared his thoughts on Christian Cage.

Recently, while speaking on the Grilling JR podcast, ‘Good Ol” JR revealed that Cage was not one of the wrestlers with huge biceps, and thus his physique prevented him from becoming a top guy in WWE. Ross also stated that Cage is one of the best heels in AEW.

“His size [and] look didn’t do him any favors at certain points in his career. I know that my belief is that McMahon did not push him more because he didn’t like Christian’s look. It didn’t sell. It wasn’t the ‘wow factor.’ He wasn’t the guy, except for his hair, that could walk through an airport and be noticed. He fit in. Edge, being 6’4, stood out. So, yeah. Size had a big issue there, at times. He’s passed it now, thank God, for AEW. That’s why he’s one of the best heels in the friggin’ business,” Jim Ross said. [H/T Fightful.com]

Jim Ross claims CM Punk’s WWE return was great booking by Triple H (Paul Levesque)

The week prior, the internet blew up following the shocking return of CM Punk back to WWE. Jim Ross also commented on this huge return on his podcast.

“It was a perfect booking decision. it was a great creative move. [The pop] was sustained chaos. I guarantee you there was a lot of AEW fans at the Survivor Series because they’re wrestling fans. They don’t have this brand bullshit, where you’re only going to support one brand. So you must not really be a wrestling fan, right? how could you be a wrestling fan and not be happy for the success of others within your industry?

“Anyway, It was great booking. Good judgment by Paul Levesque,” Jim Ross continued. “Phil is a friend. I didn’t always agree with him, and I certainly agreed with him more than not on some of his issues. He’s just a friend. I’m happy for my friends that find success in their chosen vocation. I wish him the best of luck on his journey. Don’t agree with all the shit that went on with him. I think he could have handled it a little differently, as probably everybody could, if you go back and look at it in hindsight. The bottom line is, he was a great get. Timely. I love the surprise.”
