Rickey Shane Page: People Don’t Give Jimmy Lloyd The Credit He Deserves

Rickey Shane Page has become one of MLW’s top stars in recent months, as he beat Jacob Fatu to win the MLW National Openweight Championship at MLW Fury Road. He later retained the gold against 1 Called Manders at MLW Slaughterhouse. At MLW One-Shot, Rickey Shane Page will defend the title against Jimmy Lloyd, someone he has plenty of history with.

In a new interview with WrestleZone’s Colin Tessier, Rickey Shane Page previewed the match.

“I’ve known Jimmy since he was like 16, 17, I think. I met him at a CHIKARA show in the crowd one time. I’ve wrestled him a few times. I always love getting in there with him. He’s crazy, and he’s a really underrated wrestler. A lot of people don’t give Jimmy the credit the credit he deserves. He’s really good, and I’m looking forward to it.”

RSP’s history does play a factor, as they know each other very well. Page also gave the Different Boy his flowers and praised his skills as a wrestler.

“He knows every style, and he can do any style. He just chooses to do the more risky style, which reminds me of myself. He’s very smart and calculating, which a lot of people wouldn’t think that about Jimmy, I think. But he’s great, and he’s a really, really good wrestler.”

Winning belts is always a big thing for me

Rickey Shane Page considers himself a “belt mark” in many ways. He says winning the MLW National Openweight Championship is a big accomplishment in his career, and probably has more pride in a title win than others.

“Winning titles is always big for me. As a belt mark, as they say, I’ve always loved wrestling titles and championship belts. I’m a bit of a nerd about it. I listen to Conrad’s podcast where they talk about the jewel missing, I just love that. So winning belts is always a big thing for me. I think I respect it a bit more than other wrestlers. I always take pride in winning belts, so it’s definitely cool to have that. That title is beautiful, too. It’s a very well-made title, and just the history behind it and stuff. It’s all around cool.”

MLW One-Shot will air on FITE+ on December 7. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs. RSP says fans should give it a chance because MLW’s in-ring work and production quality is top notch and exciting content.

“Every show that MLW’s been putting on the past few months has gotten bigger and better every time, and the production’s on point, the wrestling’s on point, the characters, just the overall presentation of it, I really, really, really think people would enjoy watching it, and I really urge people to check out the show on YouTube and to definitely check out FITE, and just see what we’re doing and see how we’re doing things differently, a little bit more exciting. Just check it out.”
