Megan Bayne will challenge for Giulia‘s STRONG Women’s Championship at Dream Queendom 2023, Stardom announced.
Stardom recently held an online press conference via YouTube for their upcoming New Blood 12 and Dream Queendom shows later this month. The conference included the contract signing for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship match at Dream Queendom featuring Giulia and Megan Bayne. The two opponents exchanged words briefly after making the match official.
“Giulia, you have defeated many people to retain your championship. It’s admirable. I definitely view you as a challenging competitor among the Stardom roster,” says Megan. She adds, “but last month when we fought one-on-one, you did not defeat me. A time limit draw doesn’t mean you won. It simply means you survived. But December 29th? You won’t be so lucky.”
As mentioned, Megan and Giulia faced off in a singles encounter last November that ended in a Time Limit Draw. Megan then challenged Giulia for the STRONG Women’s Title post-match as their match came to an inconclusive finish.
Giulia then responds, “A match born out of a series of coincidences. I’m excited to see that pro-wrestling deals with living things. I’m tougher than Megan thinks. I’m really looking forward to defending the title on December 29th, turning your corpse into a stuffed animal and displaying it beautifully in my room.” (as translated by HD Subs @HDSubss on Twitter).

This match is set to be Giulia’s 7th defense of the belt since winning it back in July against inaugural champion Willow Nightingale. On the other hand, Megan has only challenged for a top Japanese singles championship once when she first arrived in Stardom to challenge Tam Nakano for the World of Stardom belt. Both women are determined to end the calendar year with gold around their waist, and Giulia has also been vocal about wanting to face powerhouse challengers for her belt.
