Report: Ric Flair Actively Pushing To Do More Physical Spots In AEW

Ric Flair wants to get physical.

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, 74, made his AEW debut in October, as he was revealed as Tony Khan’s gift to Sting following the announcement that Sting’s last match would be at AEW Revolution. Flair then signed with AEW in November. He has appeared alongside Sting several times since then. “The Nature Boy” has gotten physically involved at times. Most recently, he interfered in Sting’s match on the January 10 episode of AEW Dynamite and chopped Powerhouse Hobbs.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that Ric Flair has been “actively pushing” to do more physical spots. However, he has not been considered for performing in the ring.

In a previous interview with WrestleZone, Ric Flair expressed his hope that AEW would turn him loose. He stated that he was cleared to be able to “feed” for someone if needed.

“I don’t expect to wrestle. Could I? Yes, because I’ll learn from my mistakes,” Ric Flair said. “You always learn from past mistakes. But I don’t think that’ll ever happen, but I certainly want to be able to feed a guy if I’ve helped get heat on them because it’s only fair to the babyface, or the good guy rather, that he gets a shot at the guy.

“That’s how they prevail. They beat the villain and then they have to smack someone around that’s been associated with them,” he said. “I am cleared for that. And even if I wasn’t, I’m feeding. That’s the way it works.”

Update On Sting And Darby Allin vs. The Young Bucks

As seen at the end of AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, Sting and Darby Allin were confronted by The Young Bucks. The two teams are seemingly set to clash in Sting’s last match at AEW Revolution.

Sapp reports that Sting had a major say in who he would face in his last match. The report notes that he has been more keen on doing tag team matches, and he was on board with the plan to face The Young Bucks.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
