Report: Seth Rollins Suffered Torn MCL, Partially Torn Meniscus

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins suffered an injury on the January 15 episode of WWE RAW. A new report provides an update.

Seth Rollins beat Jinder Mahal to retain the title on Monday night, but he was seen limping after the match. Wade Keller of the Pro Wrestling Torch then reported that he suffered a legitimate injury.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that the word in WWE and sources near Seth Rollins is that he suffered a torn MCL and a partially torn meniscus. Sapp writes that it is not currently known whether he will require surgery. However, the hope is that he will be able to avoid it. It is unclear how WWE will deal with the injury on-screen.

Sapp notes that Rollins has worked through many knee problems in the past, and sources highlighted his toughness in finishing the match on Monday.

WWE has pulled Rollins from upcoming live events in the aftermath of the injury.

Pet the Cleveland Clinic, there are different types of MCL tears, as they can vary in severity. They note that most people recover from non-surgical treatment. However, athletes may want to consider surgery due to the stress sports put on their knees. Cleveland Clinic notes that a grade 1 MCL tear can heal on its own within one to three weeks, but Grade 2 and 3 tears need proper treatment.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
