Matthew Rehwoldt Responds To Claim That WWE References Harm TNA

One of the wrestlers who became highly popular during his final days in WWE was Matthew Rehwoldt. He was formerly known as Aiden English. Recently, Rehwoldt responded to a fan reacting to his comments about the TNA Wrestling commentators mentioning one of their biggest competitors in the name of WWE frequently during each show.

A fan had taken to Twitter to make a request specifically for the self-proclaimed Drama King and Tom Hannifan, formerly Tom Philips in WWE. The fan asked Matthew Rehwoldt and his partner in crime to stop mentioning the Stamford-based promotion frequently in every show. The Twitter user also claimed that both Rehwoldt and Hennifan were creating significant damage to TNA Wrestling by mentioning WWE.

“.@TomHannifan @DramaKingMatt Stop mentioning WWE during commentary. You harm TNA. #TNAiMPACT #TNAWrestling,” a fan tweeted.

Upon reading the fan’s tweet, the former WWE Superstar replied by stating that he does agree with the fan for the most part. But also mentioned that it is important for him and everybody else to acknowledge the talent’s accomplishments outside of their current promotion.

“Generally true – focus primarily on your own product and history. We do that 99% of the time. But when people walk through our doors who have made very significant accomplishments in the world of pro wrestling, even in another company, you’d be a fool not to acknowledge it,” Matthew Rehwoldt tweeted.

Jordynne Grace made her WWE debut in the Royal Rumble on Saturday night. The TNA Knockouts Champion impressed during her time in the Rumble match, highlighting why promotions building each other up is a good thing for the business.

Matthew Rehwoldt is exciting for TNA Wrestling

Late last year it was announced by TNA Wrestling president Scott D’Amore that the promotion will be rebranding itself from IMPACT Wrestling to TNA. Following this, Matthew Rehwoldt shared his thoughts on the announcement during an interview with Progress Wrestling. The Drama King mentioned that he is excited for the future and that the company has returned to its original spirit.

“I’m excited for the future of TNA. So much of our history is already under that banner, and to more fully embrace that will be a joy. I think there was a time just before TNA was initially re-branded to just IMPACT that it lost a little bit of what made it so interesting, however, under Anthem and their support, as well as Scott D’Amore, the crew we have backstage, as well as our amazing roster talent, I believe we truly returned to that original spirit of what TNA was, and can forge it into the future,” Matt Rehwoldt said.

Do you agree with Rehwoldt, is it better for commentators to mention previous accomplishments of their roster in other promotions?
