AEW Dynamite Results (2/7/24): Strickland vs. Page, Tag Title Match, Tony Khan’s Announcement

All Elite Wrestling presented a star-studded show with the February 7 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Swerve Strickland faced Hangman Adam Page to determine AEW World Champion Samoa Joe’s next challenger at AEW Revolution. Plus, Ricky Starks and Big Bill defended the AEW World Tag Team Championship against Sting and Darby Allin. Additionally, Tony Khan made a big announcement.

Winner Faces Samoa Joe At AEW Revolution: “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland (with Prince Nana)

Page and Strickland square off. They’re evenly matched early on. They start brawling, and the two foes spill out of the ring. Swerve sends Hangman over the barricade and leaps onto him. Back in the ring, Page gains the upper hand and stomps on Swerve. Strickland rocks Page with a boot. He briefly takes control, but Page slams him. Page grounds Strickland. Strickland fires up and takes Page to the mat. Hangman drills Swerve with a shot to the back of the head. Page slams Swerve onto the floor.

Hangman drills Swerve with a kick to the face. Swerve evades the Buckshot Lariat and drops Page with a Flatliner on the floor. He dives over the ropes and onto Page. Strickland gains more momentum and suplexes Page. He hits the House Call for a two-count. Swerve drills Page with a kick. Hangman gets a two-count with a powerbomb. Strickland ducks the Buckshot and hits one of his own. He hits the Swerve Stomp for a two-count. At ringside, Swerve goes for a piledriver, but Hangman drops him with a DDT onto the barricade. Hangman slams Swerve into the barricade. They keep battling. Swerve drops Hangman with a back-breaker. Swerve hits the Swerve Stomp, and Hangman rolls onto a table at ringside. Hangman counters the 450 splash by getting his knees up.

Page floors Swerve with a lariat. He hits the Buckshot Lariat, but Swerve gets his foot on the rope to stop the pin. Hangman hits the Deadeye on the apron. Page drills Prince Nana with a chair. Swerve kicks the chair into Hangman. Swerve hits the Swerve Stomp, but he hurts his ankle on the landing. Hangman gains the upper hand, but Swerve rocks him with a kick and hits the Deadeye off the apron and through a table. Page dodges the Swerve Stomp, but Swerve slams him. The time-limit expires as Swerve goes for the pin.

Result: Time-Limit Draw

Strickland demands five more minutes, and Hangman says Swerve did not beat him. Page says it’s over for Swerve, as he won’t be the world champion. Tony Schiavone announces that this is not done, as there will be a three-way match at AEW Revolution; Samoa Joe will defend the title against Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland.

Backstage, AEW World Champion Samoa Joe shares his thoughts on the announcement. He says it marks the celebration of mediocrity. Joe says the powers that be don’t want him to be the champion, but it is not their choice. Joe vows to leave AEW Revolution with the gold around his waist.

AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator: “Timeless” Toni Storm (c) (with Lutha and Mariah May) vs. Red Velvet

Deonna Purrazzo is on commentary for the bout. Storm and Velvet battle for positioning. Velvet takes control with some strikes. Storm gains the upper hand and grounds Velvet. She continues to control the match. Velvet rallies and drops Storm with a kick. She hits a bulldog. Storm dodges Velvet, sending her face-first into a turnbuckle, and nails her with a hip attack. The champion traps Velvet in an ankle lock and makes her tap out.

Winner: “Timeless” Toni Storm

Storm refuses to release the hold. Purrazzo enters the ring and confronts Storm, who seemingly sniffs her. Lutha keeps them separated, and Storm leaves as Purrazzo stares her down.

Backstage, AEW International Orange Cassidy, alongside Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero, discusses his upcoming matches. When asked for an update on Chuck Taylor, he says Chuck is getting checked on, so they will go see him.

CMLL Stars Take On BCC On AEW Dynamite

Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli) vs. Hechicero, Volador Jr. & Mascara Dorada

Danielson and Hechicero start the bout and feel each other out. They battle for positioning, and Hechicero showcases his technical expertise. Dorada tags in and chops Castagnoli. Castagnoli overpowers him, but Dorada takes him down with a headscissors. Moxley and Volador Jr. tag in and trade blows. Volador Jr. sends Moxley to the outside and dives onto him, The two teams square off at ringside. Moxkey gains the upper hand and dives onto him. Hechicero and Mascara attack Moxley, and Danielson and Castagnoli get involved.

Moxley drops Volador Jr. with a lariat. The BCC takes control and isolates Volador Jr. Castagnoli swings Volador Jr. BCC maintains the advantage. Volador Jr. rallies and tags Mascara Dorada, who clears house with a flurry of offense. Team CMLL dives onto the BCC at ringside.

Dorada gets a two-count with a sunset flip on Castagnoli. Bodies are flying as the match breaks down in chaos. Hechicero dives onto Danielson. Castagnoli exchanges strikes with him. Danielson stomps Hechicero. Dorada takes Danielson down, but Moxley levels him. Hechicero rocks Moxley. Claudio drills him with a lariat. The referee gets hit in the corner, and Castagnoli goes below the belt before he pins Hechicero.

Winners: Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli)

Mistico, Star Jr, and another CMLL star hop the barricade to confront the BCC, but other members of AEW run to the ring, so Team CMLL flees.

Tony Khan Makes His Big Announcement On AEW Dynamite

Tony Khan is standing by backstage to make his big announcement. He confirms that AEW is returning to Boston on March 13 and says it will be a very important night for AEW and all of wrestling.

Chris Jericho vs. Konosuke Takeshita (with Don Callis & Powerhouse Hobbs)

Jericho and Takeshita trade blows. Jericho sends Takeshita to the outside. Callis argues with Takeshita at ringside, and Jericho drops him. Takeshita slams him into the barricade. He hits Jericho with a Brainbuster on the floor. Back in the ring, Jericho rallies. He gains the upper hand. Sammy Guevara comes down and hits Hobbs with a chair. Guevara drops him with a cutter and hits him with a chair. Hobbs leaves through the crowd. Jericho gains the upper hand.

Takeshita fires up and grounds Jericho. They trade blows. Takeshita nails Jericho with a kick. Takeshita dives onto Jericho. He blocks the Lionsault. Takeshita slams Jericho. Jericho drops him with the Codebreaker. They trade stiff shots. Takeshita hits an avalanche Blue Thunder Bomb. The referee gets knocked down. Callis attacks Jericho with a screwdriver. Takeshita traps Jericho in the Walls of Jericho and transitions to the Lion-tamer, forcing Jericho to tap out.

Winner: Konosuke Takeshita

Tornado Tag Match For AEW World Tag Team Championship: Ricky Starks & Big Bill (c) vs. Sting & Darby Allin

The brawl starts right away. Sting and Starks head into the crowd, and Sting hits Starks with a garbage can. Starks and Bill gang up on Allin. Sting jumps off a balcony onto the champions. Allin and Sting maintain the advantage. Sting hits Starks with a chair. Bill floors Sting at ringside. The big man catches Allin and slams him at ringside. Bill chokes Allin and slams him head-first onto the mat. He tosses Allin across the ring. Sting fires up and takes the fight to the champions. Starks hits Sting with a Scorpion Death Drop.

Allin dives onto Bill at ringside. Sting locks Starks in the Scorpion Death Lock. Allin sends Bill crashing through a table. Starks drops Sting with a Spear. Sting hits the Scorpion Death Drop for the win.

Winners and new AEW World Tag Team Champions: Sting & Darby Allin

Sting celebrates with his family after the match. The Young Bucks attack Sting and Darby Allin after the match. They drill Allin with an EVP Trigger. The Young Bucks leave Sting and Allin bloodied, and they toss the titles at them.

The Young Bucks stand tall as the show comes to an end.
