It appears we might still get that matchup between Giulia and Mercedes Moné sooner rather than later.
Prior to Mercedes Moné’s unfortunate injury last year, many fans thought it was only a matter of time before the former WWE Superstar would stand across the ring from Giulia. But in 2024, many believed that was no longer possible. That doesn’t seem to be the case, however.
New Japan STRONG Women’s Champion Giulia recently spoke with Tokyo Sports. When asked about a potential match with Mercedes Moné, Giulia expressed a desire to put her title on the line against the soon-to-be All Elite Wrestling star.
“This belt was made for Moné.” Giulia said, “In order to overturn these words, I’ve been thinking ever since I took this belt that I have to defeat Moné. I can’t say where Giulia will go from now on. But until I find Moné, I can’t tell you yet. I will continue to defend this belt.”
Hours later, Moné caught wind of Giulia’s words and chose to respond to the champion on social media, tweeting out:
“You standing on big business or u just standing around! YoU know where to find me Julia @giulia0221g *money bag emoji*,” Mercedes Moné said in a post.
