Mercedes Moné becomes the first AEW star to win back-to-back Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments.
Mercedes Moné returned to AEW on the June 3, 2026, episode of Dynamite as the mystery wild card entrant in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, defeating Alex Windsor in the quarterfinals. She then beat Hazuki in the semifinal and advanced to the final at Forbidden Door, where she faced Maya World.
Maya World gave Mercedes Moné a tough challenge at the event as the hard-hitting match went on for nearly 25 minutes, featuring multiple near falls. She had many moments where it almost looked like she would walk away with the win, but the CEO persevered through it all.
The final moments of the match saw Maya World lock Mercedes Moné in the Statement Maker, looking to make her tap out to her own move. However, the CEO broke free and reversed it into her own Statement Maker, but World escaped. Moné then followed it up with a backstabber and reapplied the submission, forcing World to submit to win the tournament for the second consecutive year.
With the victory, Moné has earned an AEW Women’s World Championship match at All In: London in August. After the match, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena delivered a promo during an interview with Renee Paquette, subtly teasing a future clash with Maya World.
