Maxxine Dupri Has Earned More Grace (And A Level Of Scrutiny) Compared To Other WWE Stars

Maxxine Dupri addresses her critics.

The Alpha Academy member continues to make regular appearances on WWE RAW and at live events despite only having 13 matches under her belt. As a result, she has the unique experience of honing her craft in front of large crowds, which has attracted online criticism when things don’t always go right.

Dupri recently spoke to Joe Vulpis of Lightweights Podcast and weighed in on whether or not she’s under more scrutiny than the average WWE star.

“I think yes and no,” Dupri said. “I think at times people have really given me a lot of grace because I’m learning on TV, and thankfully with my character that’s been said. So people are aware that these are my first reps. Like my first time performing in front of a crowd has been on Monday Night RAW. So I think on that level, people have given me a lot of grace.”

A level of scrutiny

“I think on the other hand — and maybe this is in my head, but this is just how I feel — I feel like we have so many talented women, not only on SmackDown, RAW, but on NXT and developmental, people wrestling on the independent scene, so I think there’s this level of, ‘Okay, this girl’s getting a shot,’ who maybe is or is not quite as ready as some people think I should be. So I think that adds a level of scrutiny.”

Dupri shared that it does add a level of pressure as she wants to make people in and out of WWE proud. She stressed that she’s grateful for every opportunity and is doing her best to get better with each performance.

“So I do think it adds that level of scrutiny, but also I’m such a perfectionist and a people pleaser, so it’s just hard for me sometimes because I wanna be better than anyone ever could imagine I could be,” Dupri added.
