John Cena On Which World Title Reign Is His Favorite: My Next One

16-time world champion John Cena teases that his favorite title reign has not happened yet.

John Cena made history when he tied Ric Flair’s record for world title reigns with his sixteenth, but the record has remained a tie since 2017. Cena matched Flair by defeating AJ Styles at WWE Royal Rumble 2017.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, John Cena was asked to name his favorite world title reign, and he quipped, “My next one.”

Cena also reiterated his past comments that the time for him to hang his boots up is coming. (h/t Matthew Wilkinson of Wrestling Inc. for the transcription)

“I have often said that the time is coming for me to hang them up, and I’m not lying when I say that, but it’s not tomorrow,” Cena said. “It’s probably soon, but it’s not tomorrow, so you never know.”

Cena last wrestled at WWE Crown Jewel 2023, where he lost to Solo Sikoa. In recent months, Cena has made it clear that he plans to retire by the time he is 50. He has said that he would like to go out on his terms, but it’s not up to him, and he wants to do what is best for WWE.

John Cena recently confirmed that he is free on the first day of WrestleMania 40. Check out his comments here.
