Big E Unsure About WWE Broadcasting Future, Taking It As Opportunities Come Up

Big E may have a future in WWE in broadcasting, but he’s taking opportunities as they come up.

The former WWE Champion was sidelined with a neck injury two years ago and he hasn’t wrestled since. His career seems to be over, although he doesn’t have an answer about that quite yet.

He seems to be moving towards a career in broadcasting, being recruited by the WWE to attend some of their panels in recent weeks.

Big E appeared at the WrestleMania XL Kickoff press conference panel in February. He joined commentators Michael Cole and Pat McAfee, plus fellow former WWE champion CM Punk.

He spoke to SHAK Wrestling how he was a last-minute addition and only knew he was taking part whilst on the plan to Las Vegas that day.

“We’ve had a few conversations, and it’s kind of… I don’t know if there’s a long-term plan thats been laid out. It’s mostly opportunity by opportunity. Usually, a few weeks before. I think they reached out for the Vegas panel maybe a week before.”

“I got a text they wanted me to go, but it wasn’t until I boarded the flight to Vegas that I even knew I was going to be doing the panel! But that’s the nature of doing things in the WWE. Often times, it’s just ‘hey, show up’ and you get things thrown at you. Knowing I have a really good rapport, Punk is a friend, I have great rapport with Pat [McAfee], with Michael [Cole]. I just knew, kind of the idea was, just go out there and talk. There’s no-one chatting in your ear, telling you what to say.

Big E Thought Working On The Panel Was ‘Really Fun’

Continuing, Big E really enjoyed the idea of just showing up at the panel, and found the ability to talk freely to the fans to be amazing.

“I really like the idea of us just showing up and, with the Vegas panel, I didn’t know what to make of it, and I didn’t know how things would unfold, but it ended up being really fun and the energy was great.”

“It was something I really enjoyed, and I got to be immersed as a fan. For me to just be able to talk freely has been amazing. I’ve never had the career that Punk has had. I don’t have the fame that Pat has. I don’t have the longevity that Michael Cole has. But it’s been really great that so many fans have been receptive. “
