Darby Allin: I Still Am Going To Climb Mt. Everest, You Can’t Stop Me

A broken foot and getting hit by a bus will not deter Darby Allin from his goal of climbing Mount Everest in 2025.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Darby Allin was a recent guest on The Daly Migs Show. During his appearance, Allin confirmed he still intends to climb Mount Everest next year despite everything that’s happened to him this year.

“It’s been a crazy few months for sure,” Darby Allin said. “With Mount Everest having to be postponed to next year. Once I broke my foot, everybody says, ‘Maybe it’s a sign that you shouldn’t climb Mount Everest.’ And then the first thing I said, ‘Maybe it’s a sign I should climb it next year.’ And they were like, slow down!

“Then I got hit by a bus; maybe it’s definitely a sign you shouldn’t climb Mount Everest. But maybe it’s a sign I should also climb it next year. I still am going to climb Mount Everest; you can’t stop me.”

The decision to climb Mount Everest

When asked how he decided to climb Mount Everest, Allin explained how this all originally came about.

“It just popped up in my head one night, and I was like, man, I really want to do that,” Darby Allin said. “That’s like something to push my body to the absolute limits because everybody sees what I do physically in AEW, but I thought, man, what’s something a pro wrestler has never done before? So I started thinking I was like, Mount Everest! That sounds insane.

“So I just instantly jumped on the phone with a bunch of climbing companies. And they said you need experience. You can’t go to climb Mount Everest. And I was like, okay, I’ll go through any training program you have, and I completed all the training programs. And they told me we have never seen someone succeed in mountain climbing as fast as you have. You’re gonna do amazing on Mount Everest.

A broken foot prevented Darby Allin’s climb in 2024

“So I was all excited. I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna kick Mount Everest’s ass! This is gonna be awesome.’ And then two weeks before I was supposed to fly out I broke my foot wrestling at the show. I broke my foot in the first minute of the match, and I wrestled an extra 13 minutes on the broken foot. It was so hard; it was miserable.

“But then I got three metal plates put in my foot. So I’m recovering from that, but I fully plan on climbing Mount Everest again next year. I’m not taking this as a sign to stay away from the mountain. I’m taking this as a sign to kick ass next year. So I’m ready to rock.”

Allin would also confirm that his broken foot is scheduled to be healed in June but teased he could still appear at Dynamite when they stop at Everett, WA, on May 15.
