Report: Eddie Kingston Believed To Have Suffered Broken Leg (Updated)

A new report provides an update on Eddie Kingston after he suffered an injury at NJPW Resurgence.

Eddie Kingston reportedly suffered an injury at NJPW Resurgence, where he lost the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship to Gabe Kidd. On the May 15 episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW announced that Kingston was not cleared to compete. As a result, he was pulled from the Anarchy in the Arena match at AEW Double or Nothing.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided an update. He wrote that Kingston suffered “what was being talked about” as a broken leg, but the exact injury was not confirmed. Per Meltzer, AEW learned that Kingston broke his leg on May 13, and the company changed the plans for AEW Double or Nothing. Darby Allin was revealed as Kingston’s replacement in the match.

Kingston has confirmed his injury in a post on social media:

Update: Mike Johnson of PWInsider confirmed the injury and wrote that Eddie Kingston had a series of X-rays. He wrote that Kingston was waiting for confirmation on how the injury would be addressed. Per Johnson, he is hoping to return by AEW All In in August. However, that would depend on whether surgery was required.

WrestleZone wishes him well in his recovery, and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
