Ryan Nemeth Got Served With A Lawsuit Minutes Before His Off-Broadway Debut

Ryan Nemeth made his off-Broadway debut this weekend. It looks like he also got sued.

Nemeth was in New York City this weekend to begin his role in ‘Street Fighting Knock Out,’ a murder mystery stage play presented by Case Crackers. According to Nemeth, he was informed he was being sued just four minutes before he went on stage.

“Raise your hand if a literal billionaire sent someone to sue you 4 minutes before you walked onstage for your off-Broadway debut play this weekend. ?‍♂️,” Nemeth wrote in his new Twitter bio.

Nemeth didn’t explicitly name the “literal billionaire” in question, but it is easy to speculate that he was referencing AEW owner Tony Khan.

Ryan Nemeth previously filed a lawsuit against AEW and Tony Khan

According to a December 2024 report from Fightful (via Fightful Select), Nemeth submitted a complaint following his exit from AEW. The complaint alleged he experienced “abuse, harassment, and threats” while he was working for AEW. In February, Nemeth filed a formal lawsuit against AEW in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Among his complaints, Ryan Nemeth alleged that CM Punk “undertook a campaign to terrorize and intimidate [him], including physical assault.” He also claimed breach of contract, and that AEW and Tony Khan did nothing to protect him or other performers from Punk’s conduct. Nemeth claimed that AEW and Khan attempted to blackball him from the wrestling business.

After he obtained his release from AEW, Nemeth claimed that AEW attorney Chris Peck “reached out and threatened legal action” against him. In the lawsuit, Nemeth is seeking compensatory damages, punitive damages, and has demanded a jury trial.

A recent update (via POST Wrestling) shows that AEW and Khan filed a new petition in response to the lawsuit. They argue Nemeth’s claims should be seen via private arbitration rather than in a public trial. AEW provided three contract clauses that Nemeth signed which mandate this.

AEW fired Punk in September 2023, and he returned to WWE in November of that year. Ryan Nemeth has been featured by TNA Wrestling in recent months. He and his brother, Nic Nemeth, recently began a feud with Matt and Jeff Hardy.
