Mina Shirakawa seemingly failed to woo Ric Flair in their previous meeting.
Recently, Mina Shirakawa appeared on Shabekuri 007, a Japanese talk show, alongside STARDOM’s Tam Nakano, Saya Kamitani, Natsuko Tora, Natsupoi, and NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi. Amidst the program, a clip of Shirakawa applying a Figure-Four Leg Lock flashed across the ring.
“If everyone else is doing flashy moves, I’ll just concentrate on one thing and keep attacking the leg. Get a tapout with the Figure-Four Leg Lock,” Shirakawa said in response (h/t to MeraWrestling for English translation). “I like Keiji Muto and Ric Flair.”

While on the topic, Shirakawa then recalled an interesting encounter she had with Flair, who popularized the submission hold, in the United States.
“I met Ric Flair in America. I greeted him and told him I’m a wrestler too,” she said. “So I was drinking a little bit and I was drunk. So I was drinking like ‘Yeah, cheers!’ and I thought ‘This is my chance!’ I said ‘Woo!’ in front of Ric Flair. He yelled ‘Shut up!’ and got mad at me.”
It is unclear if Flair’s anger toward Shirakawa was genuine or done in a joking manner. Nevertheless, Shirakawa, a former Artist of STARDOM Champion, expressed laughter when recounting it.
