Linda McMahon can’t tell AI from A1, it seems.
The Secretary of Education was speaking at an ASU+GSV Summit when she mixed AI, aka artificial intelligence, with A1 (a popular steak sauce brand).
“You know, AI development – I mean, how can we educate at the speed of light if we don’t have the best technology around to do that?” She got the acronym right in the first place before botching it, not once but twice.
“A school system that’s going to start making sure that first graders, or even pre-Ks, have A1 teaching in every year. That’s a wonderful thing!” she said. “Kids are sponges. They just absorb everything. It wasn’t all that long ago that it was, ‘We’re going to have internet in our schools!’ Now let’s see A1 and how can that be helpful.” (H/T USA Today)
A1 Sauce was quick to use Linda McMahon’s blunder as a marketing ploy. “You heard her. Every school should have access to A1,” read a post on the brand’s Instagram account.
Linda McMahon was confirmed to lead the U.S. Department of Education in March. McMahon, 76, previously served as the Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration during President Trump’s first term.
