AJ Styles explains why he isn’t ready to be a Hall of Famer yet.
Styles spent nearly twelve years with TNA Wrestling. He is also one of the most highly decorated performers in the TNA’s 20+ year history. Styles is a three-time NWA/TNA World Champion, and the company’s first Triple Crown and Grand Slam champion.
AJ Styles took part in a panel at WWE World on Friday. There, he was asked if he wanted to be inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame. Styles shared that he actually declined a past invitation, noting that he felt it was disrespectful to WWE. When he does go into any Hall of Fame, he’d like it to be once he’s finished as an in-ring competitor.
AJ Styles says TNA has reached out about a Hall of Fame induction in the past
“You know what? There was a time they wanted me to come be in the TNA Hall of Fame. And I just thought it was a bit disrespectful at the time, to WWE, to go to a TNA Hall of Fame. I want to go in the Hall of Fame when I’m done wrestling,” AJ Styles said. “I think that’s more appropriate. Because there’s a lot of places where I wrestled and I’m very thankful that I could be in any Hall of Fame. So I want to wait until I’m done [wrestling] before I [get inducted into any Hall of Fame].
AJ Styles did not share which year TNA inquired about him being inducted into its Hall of Fame. Styles has been with WWE since 2016. In that time, TNA has inducted Gail Kim, Abyss, Ken Shamrock, Awesome Kong, Raven, Traci Brooks, Rhino and Bob Ryder into its Hall of Fame. TNA did not have a Hall of Fame ceremony in 2017 or 2019.
Styles also said he is open to the possibility of stepping back into a TNA ring one more time, and revealed who his ideal opponent would be.
