TNA’s AJ Francis Reveals He Models His Work After WWE Hall Of Famer Yokozuna

TNA star AJ Francis recently opened up about what legend he models his work after, and his wrestling style in general.

Speaking to WrestleZone in a new interview, the star opened up about his moves. He said while other wrestlers are looking to do more technical moves, he’s into doing the “cool stuff,” but not in such a chaotic style.

“Everybody else wants to do counter to counter, move to move, backflip to whatever. And I do backflips,” Francis said. “I’m not talking sh*t. I do a bunch of cool stuff, but I do it in place. I let it breathe. I do the right thing.”

AJ Francis also pointed to the legendary Yokozuna as someone he looks up to. Specifically, Francis pointed to Yokozuna’s “selling style,” after he was criticized by fans about how he works in the ring.

“For years, people would say, ‘AJ, when you wrestle, you sell too much.’ And I’d say, ‘Oh really? I sell too much?’ You know who I got my selling style from? Yokozuna,” said Francis. “Go back and watch Yokozuna matches. Shawn Michaels would punch him one time and he’d (go flying). Shawn Michaels was 175 pounds and Yokozuna was legit like 500 pounds.

“The thing is, it’s a lost art in today’s day and age. I love the fact that you can bring those long-lost elements back and they’re fresh.
