John Cena and Randy Orton will once again step into the ring and fight for a title, following an explosive meeting between the two tonight.
During Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Orton and Cena both took to the ring following Orton’s surprise RKO on Cena last week on WWE RAW. Orton tried to first dissuade Cena from being a bad guy, and told him he should focus on something else, like having kids.
Cena quickly snapped back that Orton was “parent shaming” him, and that he hasn’t had any kids because he’s spent 25 years raising us. After mocking various members of the crowd for a bit, Cena said that the WWE fans are nothing but entitled, and have done nothing in life.
Orton said that it was pointless to try and convince Cena to stop being rude. However, Orton said he took exception to Cena’s desire to “ruin wrestling.” Like Cody Rhodes’ theme song says, said Orton, there’s more than one royal family in wrestling, and Orton belongs to one. Orton said that wrestling is all he’s known his whole life, and he’d be damned if Cena ruined it.
John Cena wants to ruin everyone’s legacies
Cena then interrupted Orton, screaming at him to shut up. He said that Orton’s 14 championships were less than his 17. He also said that, when Cena retires, Orton’s chance at a “real” title will disappear. Cena’s main goal, he said, was to make sure people like Orton’s entire legacy was erased.
As the segment winded down, Orton challenged Cena to a title match on the spot. Cena declined, and said it should come at WWE Backlash instead. The reason, according to Cena, is to let Orton be at his best. With Backlash taking place in Orton’s hometown, Cena said he should spend as much time with his family as possible. He wants Orton at his best, because when Orton fails, he will have no excuses.
Cena then once again told the WWE crowd and Orton to take a good look. He said this is what the “last real champion” looks like, and it’ll be as close as Randy will ever get. He then threw the belt at Randy, and began assaulting him. Orton would eventually flip it and land an RKO on Cena, then pose with the belt.
