Grade: B
Punk and Zayn started this one off hot and seemingly on the same page. Despite Zayn and Punk’s differences, they have seemingly bonded over mutual hatred for Rollins and his crew. This one featured all four men’s greatest hits, as well as a few new ones; Punk pulled his wrestling daughter’s finish out of his back pocket and almost got the win after hitting Roxanne Perez’s Pop Rocks. Entertaining match. Reed obliterating Punk came out of left field. Also, this writer can’t wait to hear the rationale why Reed, who quite literally attempted to murder Rollins a year ago, would join his group. Side note: Rollins group needs a name.

It’s a bad night to be Chelsea Green… ??
AND STILL your WOMEN’s UNITED STATES CHAMPION: Zelina Vega! ??????#SNME pic.twitter.com/UaeeWoi9AA
— WWE (@WWE) May 25, 2025
Winner and STILL Women’s United States Champion, Zelina Vega!
Grade: C
These two have had several matches at this point. This was by far the worst one. Vega and Green generally have good chemistry, and their previous matches have been fun. This one was a bit rough, with several missteps. No one is perfect, but we can’t act like we didn’t see several wonky spots. Also, this doesn’t knock the finish, but Green and Vega used this same finish on SmackDown. Most won’t remember that, but this writer does. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Cena kicks Truth in the nuts and hits the AA for the win.
Winner- John Cena
After the match, Cena hits Truth in the head with the championship anyway.
Grade: C+
This match was designed to give us more reasons to hate Cena. Did it work? Eh. Cena’s slow and deliberate pace and constant cheating are more than enough to get people to hate him. Adding bullying the beloved R-Truth is just more fuel to the fire. Truth is a national treasure, and there isn’t a person in the WWE Universe who likes seeing Cena hurt Truth. That said, Cena didn’t hurt Truth enough. WWE had an opportunity here to give Cena his “I’m going to beat up Jim Ross” heel turn moment, which was so effective in the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras. As much as I love Truth, this should have ended with Cena setting him on fire.

Priest leaves the cage, pauses on the steps, and eventually drops to the floor for the win.
Winner- Damian Priest
Grade: B
This one was brutal. Priest and McIntyre tried to maim each other in the cage. Conchairtos are both vicious and silly since doing that to someone should result in their brains shooting out of the top of their skull. Seriously, it’s hard to suspend disbelief with some of this stuff. At least, in this case, the conchairto ended the match. They got that part right.
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Jey Uso (c) vs. Logan Paul

Winner and STILL World Heavyweight Champion, Jey Uso!
Rhodes challenges Cena and Paul to a tag match against him and Jey at Money in the Bank.
Grade: B-
This was a Raw main event, but we shouldn’t have expected anything more than that. Jey looked good out there, but it’s hard to be interested in Paul. Paul’s promos and matches are essentially the same things every time we see him, so how can you invest in him in any way? The end of this one was the meat of the matter, as it set up a main event tag match for Money in the Bank. With both world championships being in one match, it would be shocking if either Cena or Jey got cashed in on at the show.
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Review:
The show had its moments, especially the tag opener and the cage match, but there wasn’t enough consistent excellence to elevate it beyond just “okay.” A couple of flat matches and some questionable logic in the storytelling pulled the overall grade down. Still, the overall show did a good job of setting up a few key things heading into Money in the Bank, so in that sense, it was somewhat successful.
Rating: B-
