Rey Mysterio has a unique perspective on seeing Dominik Mysterio’s “heritage” being referenced on WWE TV.
Mysterio spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard about his son, Dominik’s connection with and resemblance to the late Eddie Guerrero. Dominik was introduced on WWE TV during Rey’s 2005 feud with Eddie, who later claimed he was Dominik’s real father. The storyline climaxed with a “Custody of Dominik” ladder match at that year’s SummerSlam. The storyline was partly mocked at the time, but fans and Dominik still have fun with it today.
More recently, Dominik has worn a “Latino Heat” style shirt. He was also captured looking at the Intercontinental Championship just like Eddie did 25 years prior. Rey shared how much fun it has been watching fans embrace that element of Dominik’s history on WWE television.

“Incredible. I don’t think — I’m sure some things are just organic and it just happened in the moment. And then we go back and reflect on it like, ‘Oh my God, this looks so much like Eddie.’ And ‘Oh, I wasn’t even thinking about it, but it just happened.’ You know, a lot of things [really do] happen in the moment. But overall, I see a very big resemblance of when Eddie was around.
“When I run across pictures like that or I see moments like that, I always think about, ‘Man, I so wish Eddie was here,’ cause I know he’s enjoying it from the heavens. But, for us to be able to see his reactions, to see the growth of Dom, it’s just mind-blowing,” Rey added. “But at the same time, I think all of us that knew Eddie and that were around him, and we get to see Dom now, [that] gives us a little taste of what that was.”
