AEW’s Tony Khan Listed On ‘Most Valuable Sports Empire’ List

Tony Khan is in good company.

CNBC recently published a list of the top 20 Most Valuable Sports Empires of 2025. According to CNBC, the Khan family ranked 13th on the list. According to the list, the Khan “sports empire” is valued at being worth $9.88B. The Jacksonville Jaguars NFL franchise, Premier League’s Fulham FC, and All Elite Wrestling are listed among the Khan family’s notable sports properties.

Shahid Khan is listed as owner of the three franchises. Tony Khan (credited as CEO, GM and head of creative of All Elite Wrestling) is featured under its Key operator(s) section. The Khans “narrowly” beat out Gail Benson for 14th on the list (valued at $9.77 billion). They trail the Glazer family, who own the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Premier League’s Manchester United franchises.

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, owned by Los Angeles Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and Arsenal FC owner/chairman Stan Kroenke, topped the list with a valuation of $21.17 billion.

Tony Khan said convincing his dad to invest in AEW was like a scene from Succession

Khan was a recent guest on The Rich Eisen Show. There, he was asked if Tony ever had a “how do you like me now” moment with his father regarding AEW’s success. Khan said he hasn’t and said Shad has been very supportive. As for getting Shad to invest, Tony compared it to a scene out of Succession.

“Yes, absolutely,” Tony Khan said. “And honestly, I did famously twist his arm to your point. Christmas 2018 was like a scene out of Succession where I was saying, we need to make a big eight-figure investment and invest millions of dollars in this. And I have no guarantees.

“I didn’t even have the TV deal. We didn’t secure that until months later, officially, May of 2019. But I had been working on it. And he later said, this is a great example of why parents should sometimes trust their kids even when they don’t necessarily believe in the idea. You just gotta have faith.”
