Elayna Black (Cora Jade) Is Taking A Break From Wrestling For ‘The Foreseeable Future’

Elayna Black needs to get her head straight.

Black, formerly known as Cora Jade in WWE/NXT, announced that she is taking an immediate hiatus from pro wrestling. Black was released by WWE on May 2, ending a four-year run with the company. She left WWE as a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, winning the titles once with Roxanne Perez.

Since then, she has continued to build her name on the independent scene. However, Black surprised fans on Monday by announcing she is taking an extended break from pro wrestling.

“I originally had a 10 minute long video explaining where my head’s at, and maybe eventually I’ll post it but seems unneccessary for now. I’ll keep it short but I am going to be taking a break from wrestling for the foreseeable future,” Elayna Black wrote on Twitter/X. “It’s no longer good for my mental health and I’ll never know if that love for it I once had will return if I don’t step away. I’m gonna take the rest of the year to take care of me and go from there. I apologize to the fans and promoters who were looking forward to/booked my upcoming appearances. I hope you can understand. To my supporters, thank you [black heart emoji].”

Black closed her post by signing it “Brie/Elayna” and the quote, “Let go or be dragged.”

Black’s last match was a tag team loss with Brooke Havok to The IInspiration at the July 13 “Combat Clash” event for Prestige Wrestling.
