Priscilla Kelly reflects on a controversial career moment.
In early 2019, a clip of Priscilla Kelly went viral and stirred up a mix of responses. In it, Kelly pulled a “used” tampon out of her trunks and shoved it into the mouth of her opponent, Tuna, at a Suburban Fight Pro event. The event, which took place at a bar, required audience members to be 21 years or older. Still, many figures across the wrestling scene reacted negatively, with some calling it “disgusting,” while others called it out for a lack of storytelling and/or potential unfavorable impact on women’s wrestling.
During a recent interview on Rulebreakers, Kelly revealed that WWE Hall of Famer Lita had a more positive response, which she shared with the indie star at the time.
“I’m working at my little GNC job and my phone just starts going nuts,” Kelly recalled. “I’m like, “What the f***?’ It’s like middle of the day and whatever. My internet’s blowing up. It was really bad at first. At first it was bad. Gail Kim didn’t really enjoy it. People like that that I looked up to in the business and stuff. People did not like it. There was so many big names in wrestling that were saying that I was disgusting, that I was an embarrassment, and I was setting women’s wrestling back. So many people came for me and I’m at working at GNC. I’m panicking because I can’t go home and just like deal with this. I’m working my sh*tty little vitamin job. It was one of those things where like I didn’t care, but then when these people start coming for you that you look up to your whole career and these legends are saying this stuff.
Lita Reaches Out To Priscilla Kelly
“It wasn’t until Lita messaged me,” she continued. “Lita messaged me and said something along the lines of ‘I think you’re awesome,’ That’s all it took to get me out of this mental hole that day. And I was like okay, you know what? I don’t give a f*ck what anybody else says. Lita just told me I was cool. Then Tommy Dreamer, who I’ve known since I started in the business, tweeted like, ‘You, my dear, are hardcore.’ And then and Taz went on publicly and said something really nice about me. Those people, to them, it was just a little tweet because they came from ECW and stuff so they got it. But that’s all it took to like make me not feel like sh*t.”
Despite the shocking spot, Kelly later lost the match to Tuna. Nowadays, she has returned to the independent wrestling scene following a recent release from WWE. She most recently wrestled at GCW’s Bash at the Ballpark event, where she, 1 Called Manders, and Matt Tremont won a hardcore six-person tag bout.
