Someone In WWE Made Tom Segura Apologize For Insults About Wrestling Fans

Tom Segura’s past remarks about pro wrestling fans continue to follow him.

Segura showed up on the May 26 episode of WWE RAW alongside fellow comedian Bert Kreischer to promote his new Netflix show, Bad Thoughts. On RAW, Segura was involved in a backstage segment with Kreischer and The War Raiders. Cathy Kelley and Segura both acknowledged his past behavior, with Segura saying, “I’ve said some stupid things in my life.”

They didn’t address those “stupid” things, but a 2020 episode of his Your Mom’s House podcast featured Segura criticizing wrestling, calling it “f*cking fake” and its fans are “ f*cking ret*rds.” Segura also mentioned having Cody Rhodes on his podcast and called it an “eye-opener,” adding that Kreischer’s positive experience with WWE convinced him to attend the show.

Now, Kreischer says someone actually made Segura apologize for his past remarks.

Kreischer shared this during a new episode of his Something’s Burning series. He told his guests, Austin Theory and Grayson Waller, that Segura was made to apologize at RAW because they wanted to see that he wasn’t just there for show.

The ‘big guy’ made Tom Segura apologize for insulting pro wrestling

“I got pulled aside and then — I won’t say his name, [but] someone had a real problem [with Tom’s remarks]. We know who had a real problem. The best was — and [it’s fine] if WWE wants to watch this and not keep this in, [but] I think it’s fascinating,” Kreischer explained. “Tom was like, ‘I want to be part of it.’ He had a [special] coming out, so he reaches out, [WWE] is like, ‘you have said some things about wrestling in the past.’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, I said horrible things.’ But they’re like, ‘We’ll make it happen.’

Kreischer says he and Segura went to cut their promo when “the big guy” approached them. He clarified that it was not Triple H, but someone asked Segura to make amends.

“He’s like, ‘I’m not buying it. I need you to apologize.’ Tom is not an apology dude. He’s like, ‘Excuse me?’ [The WWE person] said, ‘You’ve said some really reckless things and not everyone is buying [you being here],’ like ‘I’m here to test it out. So, I’m going to need a little more.’

Kreischer negotiated Segura’s apology

“My chest is on fire, I’m like, ‘Let’s cut to the chase. What do you need him to say and I’ll get him to say that.’ Because I’m not getting hit again. So I was literally like the negotiator of Tom’s apology to pro wrestling, but it [still didn’t register].

Kreischer said the next day, he saw a news article with himself and Segura as the thumbnail photo. He was reluctant to read it but ultimately did. He said it was an article about Tom Segura getting “lit up by wrestling fans.”

It was later reported that several people in WWE weren’t happy about Segura’s appearance. They understood it was a Netflix decision. However, they didn’t appreciate someone who had expressed such negative feelings being able to “just walk right in and shake hands.”
