WWE SmackDown Card

The announced card is as follows:

  • John Cena’s last appearance in Dublin, Ireland
  • Charlotte Flair vs. Piper Niven
  • Motor City Machine Guns vs. Melo Don’t Miz
  • Street Profits vs. The MFTs
  • R-Truth vs. Aleister Black

SmackDown Results:

The show kicks off with various WWE Superstars entering the building. We go live in the arena, and the WWE Universe is treated to a surprise appearance from the Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Becky Lynch.

Dublin gives Lynch a hero’s welcome, and you can tell she’s moved by it. Lynch says this is the first-ever live WWE televised event from Dublin. The crowd chants, “We deserve it!” Lynch says she remembers coming to this venue as a fan, and Randy Orton made eye contact with her and it made her life.

Lynch turns and tells the fans that they don’t deserve this moment, and none of them deserve to be on television. Becky claims she petitioned in the back to get this show canceled. The crowd chants, “We want Lyra!” and Lynch says she will never get a title shot at her again, so stop wasting their breath.

Lynch says the people in Dublin don’t respect her, and the lack of TV coverage. Becky declares herself their hero. The crowd chants, “Shut the f*ck up,” and Lynch says she is immensely let down by each and every one of them. Lynch runs down her list of accomplishments as the crowd attempts to drown her out.

It’s Tiffy Time in Dublin

Becky says Dublin should have given her a parade or a mural. The crowd chants for CM Punk, and Lynch says no one wants that old ass. Lynch runs down a lot of other celebrities from Ireland. She’s finally interrupted by WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton.

Stratton says she doesn’t understand how Becky can be so ungrateful to Dublin and reminds her that she’s on the wrong show. Stratton says she’s loving her time in Dublin because everyone knows what time it is. The crowd chants for Tiffy Time. Stratton says if Becky won’t leave, she will make her leave.

This brings out Nia Jax. Jax says she doesn’t understand why she’s worrying about Lynch because she doesn’t even go here. Nia says Tiffy has bigger problems, and they are standing right in front of her. Jax attacks Stratto,n and Lynch joins in. This brings out Jade Cargill to make the save and ends up facing off with Lynch.

Of course, this brings out Nick Aldis, who announces the main event of tonight’s show: Becky Lynch and Nia Jax will face Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill.

Are Melo and The Miz on the same page?

Backstage, Carmelo Hayes is walking down the hall, and Fraxiom gives Hayes credit for their match last week but warn him about trusting The Miz. Miz comes in and interrupts, and Hayes defends Miz while Miz stands there in shock. This was an interesting development and makes you wonder if Melo is now playing mind games with The Miz.

Melo Don’t Miz vs. Motor City Machine Guns

  • The finish saw another miscommunication between Melo and Miz, but Miz still got the pinfall victory on Chris Sabin to score the victory for his team.

Winners: Melo Don’t Miz

Grade: B

I mean, it was fine. It’s honestly really sad to see how far the Motor City Machine Guns have fallen in under a year. I’m interested in seeing where this Melo and Miz thing goes, but man, I can’t help but feel horrible for Sabin and Shelley.

Congratulations to Jimmy Uso

Jimmy Uso is backstage, and Sami Zayn congratulates him on the pregnancy announcement. They are interrupted by Solo Sikoa and the MFTs, who tell Jimmy they can name the baby after him, and Jimmy isn’t about to let that happen.

Zayn and Sikoa face off. Solo asks if this is underdog Sami again, and Zayn says this is WrestleMania main eventer Sami. Sikoa and the MFTs back down and leave.

Charlotte Flair vs. Piper Niven (w/ Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre)

  • The finish of the match saw the numbers game catch up to Charlotte Flair. Piper Niven hits Flair with a Michinoku Driver after Green raked Flair in the eyes while the referee was distracted with Alba Fyre to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Piper Niven

Grade: B+

I’m not sure if I missed it on commentary, but I’m not sure why Alexa Bliss wasn’t out there with Charlotte. I guess it was an easy excuse to have her lose to the numbers game, but as tag team champions, you think she would have been present. Who knows…

Michin wants her title shot

Backstage in a stairway, Michin confronts Giulia and Kiana James. Michin is looking for a title shot. James says she’ll have to get through her first. Michin says she’ll be happy to go through both of them. Giulia says she’s not scared of Michin, and she and James walk away.

John Cena’s last time in Dublin

Back in the arena, John Cena makes his way to the ring. Before he can even speak, he’s interrupted by his Clash in Paris opponent, Logan Paul. The crowd chants, “f*ck you, Logan!” Paul says it’s great to be back in England and calls them drunk, washed-up failures.

Paul says he’s going to keep it real with Cena and calls him an actor who knows how to wrestle. The crowd keeps swearing at Paul, and he’s losing his mind over it. Paul is frustrated that the fans won’t accept him and calls Cena a corporate bum.

Logan says he does whatever he wants, and if he wants attention, he doesn’t have to get naked at the Oscars to get it. The crowd is really getting to Paul and tells them all to shut up. Paul wants to know who the real imposter is between him and John Cena.

John Cena says Logan Paul is an undeniable presence and a tremendous athlete. Cena says Paul is a future WWE Champion and WrestleMania main eventer. Cena says these are things he believes to be true, and they make him upset, and it makes the crowd upset, too.

Is Logan Paul a wanker or an outsider? Perhaps both?

John says everyone in the WWE Universe is focused on one term. The crowd chants wanker, and Cena says that’s Dublin’s choice, but to everyone else, it’s an outsider. Cena says he’s disappointed in Paul because he uses WWE as another branding opportunity to buy another Pokémon card. John knocks over Logan’s Prime cart at ringside.

Cena buries the fact that Paul has only had 23 matches while he’s given his life to WWE for 23 years, doing more than just premium live events, including events with no cameras for people who give a damn. Cena says every time Paul gets in the ring, he wants to know what he can do to take from this business.

John Cena says Logan Paul isn’t an outsider; he’s a parasite. Cena says the truth is a jagged pill, and the truth is, Paul has come to WWE to suck away opportunity from everyone else. Cena tells Paul that Clash in Paris is the most important match of his career, and he had better bring his A game to Paris.

Logan Paul knocks Cena’s hat off his head and shoves him multiple times. Cena responds by putting Paul down with an Attitude Adjustment.

They don’t want each other’s help…

Tiffany Strtton confronts Jade Cargill backstage. Stratton says she didn’t need Cargill’s help out there earlier. Cargill says she just wants Strattong at 100% when she gets another shot at the title. These two will be teaming up later on tonight. Good luck with all that.

Logan Paul is storming down the hall backstage and is stopped by Drew McIntyre. McIntyre tells Paul he’s afraid of John Cena, but this isn’t 2010 anymore. McIntyre says Paul needs to make things right tonight, whatever it takes.

Street Profits (w/ B-Fab) vs. JC Mateo and Tonga Loa (w/ The MFTs)

  • The finish of the match saw interference from Jimmy Uso and Sami Zayn at ringside to even the odds. Montez Ford hits JC Mateo with a Frog Splash to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Street Profits

Grade: B

Fine match. But this was much more about continuing the rivalry between Sami Zayn, Jimmy Uso, and The MFTs than it was about the Street Profits or the match going on in the ring.

“My bad… this one’s on me…”

R-Truth comes on the Tron before his match and announces he accidentally flew to Dublin, Georgia instead of Dublin, Ireland, but he has a replacement to face Black. Here comes Damian Priest…

Aleister Black vs. Damian Priest

  • This match never really gets started. They just brawl all around ringside as referees and security desperately try to separate them.

Winner: No contest

A Cody Rhodes update? Not really…

Joe Tessitore announces on commentary that they still have no medical update on Cody Rhodes. This brings out Drew McIntyre, who the crowd treats like a major babyface. McIntyre says Cody Rhodes is a little bitch, and he’s done him a favor by giving him more time with his WWE Championship. McIntyre says inevitably Rhodes will have to face him, and he’ll be taking his title.

Drew says Cody has no friends left in WWE, which brings out Randy Orton from behind, who hits McIntyre with an RKO.

Matches announced for next week’s SmackDown:

  • United States Championship: Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Sami Zayn
  • Women’s Tag Team Titles: Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair vs. The Secret Hervice
  • WWE Tag Titles #1 Contendership: Melo Don’t Miz vs. Street Profits

Becky Lynch and Nia Jax vs. Tiffany Stratton and Nia Jax

  • The finish of the match saw Tiffany Stratton hit Nia Jax with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever, followed by Jade Cargill hitting Jax with a Frog Splash to score the pinfall victory for her team.

Winners: Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill

Grade: B

John Cena is backstage about the leave the venue and runs into Nick Aldis, who tells him he just heard from Brock Lesnar. Before Aldis can say anything more, Logan Paul rushes in and knocks Cena out and runs away as WWE SmackDown goes off the air.

WWE SmackDown Review:

I thought this was a fine episode of SmackDown. The crowd really made this show better than it actually was. Next week’s show seems much more important than the one we got tonight. If you’re wondering if you need to tune into USA Network later on tonight, you probably don’t.

But if you just want to watch some fun pro wrestling on a Friday night, you’ll probably tune in and have a good time. There wasn’t anything bad on this show, just nothing great either.

Grade: B
