AEW could be getting a popular star back on the active roster “sooner than later.”
BodySlam.net recently reported that Orange Cassidy was cleared to compete. A new follow-up on AEW’s resident sloth from Fightful seemingly confirms this.
According to Fightful Select, former AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy is expected to make his TV return “sooner than later.” Cassidy has been on the shelf for the past five months after sustaining a torn labrum injury back in March.
Orange Cassidy is not expected to be out for the rest of 2025
“Fightful Select has learned that Orange Cassidy is on the mend, and we were told he’ll be back ‘sooner than later,’ when we asked for an update,” per the report. “He’s not expected to be out through the end of the year like many other injuries, unless there’s a big setback.”
The update further notes that Cassidy has been backstage at numerous events recently and that he underwent shoulder surgery shortly after the injury. He last competed on the March 19 episode of AEW Dynamite, losing to Mike Bailey and Ricochet in a fatal four-way eliminator match that also featured Mark Davis.
Cassidy’s character has always been a polarizing one with fans. When asked to explain how he came up with the gimmick, Orange Cassidy offered a pretty relatable answer.
“I didn’t,” Orange Cassidy told Geek Time. “I just lived my life. Because, you know, there are some days we all don’t want to get up and go to work, right?”
