Matt Riddle is in hot water after he no-showed a charity wrestling event this weekend.
Cultaholic is reporting that Riddle was scheduled to compete against Simon Miller at the inaugural event for Al Snow’s Global Wrestling Kingdom. The match had been advertised for months, but Riddle, the current MLW World Champion, never showed up at the event. In fact, the report says that Riddle recently “expressed concerns about his flight, claiming it was cheap, and his unhappiness about being in a hotel room in Barnsley for two days.”
Cultaholic sources claim Global Wrestling Kingdom attempted to appease Riddle by booking some pro wrestling seminars so he could make some extra money. However, they were unsuccessful due to the short notice. Riddle never cancelled his appearance, but he also never actually traveled to the United Kingdom at all. It was noted that Riddle sent a message claiming he accepted another booking. However, he claimed he’d still “potentially” make the GWK event.

According to Cagematch, Riddle competed for Boca Raton Championship Wrestling on the same day, August 31, as the GWK event. PWInsider.com also reported that Matt Riddle was backstage at Real American Freestyle’s inaugural event on Saturday, August 30. Riddle also reportedly expressed interest in competing for RAF.
After his message about his other booking, Riddle reportedly ignored GWK’s future messages about his status for the event. The GWK event was organized by the mayor of Barnsley, who was raising money for charities in support of survivors of domestic abuse and homeless veterans. Riddle’s no-show resulted in the promotion issuing refunds, and Riddle has yet to return his deposit for the event.
This is not the first time Riddle has been accused of no-showing an event this year. He also failed to appear at a Championship Wrestling from Memphis event in January. Instead of making his scheduled appearance, Riddle was in attendance at Nick Hogan’s wedding.
