Nic Nemeth believes that AEW needs to do something to make some headlines in the wake of WWE continuing to try and go toe-to-toe with them.
Speaking during a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Nemeth was asked how he’d go about trying to grab a headline if he could talk to Tony Khan. Nemeth said he would do just about anything to show fans they are outside of the box.
“Find something pop culture, mainstream, big return, something disgusting happens,” said Nemeth. “Anything. Outside of that box of sickos loving the awesome matches. And then everyone goes, ‘you know, I thought WWE was sports entertainment and AEW the alternative, and gave you all the wrestling matches instead of 40 minutes of video packages, and four or five matches.
“Not just the content. You actually get something outside of the box. It doesn’t have to be this, but social media talking, People magazine talking. ‘Can you believe that on this wrestling show, this happened?’ And then that is the way to capture it just for a day. And then what happens then is a slow snowball roll of WWE, maybe all of a sudden, goes ‘well, I guess we gotta do better than just limping along with a spoonful of sugar every Monday and Friday.”
Nemeth’s comments come as WWE recently announced its Wrestlepalooza event. The premium live event will take place alongside AEW All Out. As a result, AEW was forced to move the start time to All Out.
