Eric Bischoff Confirms Talks With Multiple Networks About Weekly RAF Wrestling Series

Eric Bischoff is excited about the future of Real American Freestyle, and he says that potentially includes a weekly television series.

Real American Freestyle, the promotion Bischoff co-founded with Chad Bronstein and the late Hulk Hogan, recently hosted its debut in August. The promotion quickly announced a follow-up event, RAF 02, set to take place on November 8th in Penn State University’s historic Rec Hall.

Bischoff spoke with The Hollywood Reporter‘s Tony Maglio about the debut event and Hulk Hogan’s legacy, as well as the future of Real American Freestyle. According to Bischoff, that includes a weekly, two-hour Real American Freestyle series. Bischoff confirmed that the show would be a “scaled-down version” of what fans saw at RAF 01. However, he also confirmed that RAF is in talks with FOX and “other networks” about a weekly episodic show.

“I really think there’s a market for it,” Bischoff told THR, “and it’s a big part of our future.”

In regard to when the show would air, Bischoff said he could see RAF finding a home on Saturday nights. He acknowledged that Saturday nights are not the best night for television, but he could make it work.

“You know, I don’t mind Saturday nights. I’ll be honest with you, it’s not the greatest night for television in terms of HUT — households using television — and so forth, but it works for me,” Bischoff said. “We gotta stay away from Monday night because you’re gonna have football. Thursday you’ve got football. There’s a lot of wrestling on Monday night (WWE) and Friday night (WWE) and Wednesday night with AEW.”
