WWE WrestlePalooza is starting off with a bang.
On Thursday, Pat McAfee announced that Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena will be the opening match at WWE WrestlePalooza this weekend.
The announcement is interesting for multiple reasons. This includes the fact that Lesnar vs. Cena was previously announced as being the main event of the night. Earlier this week, WWE RAW’s Joe Tessitore announced that Lesnar vs. Cena would close the show. It’s unclear why WWE changed the lineup, but it will be interesting to see what does end up going on last this weekend.
Prior to being booked, reports claimed Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre was being viewed as one of the two main events of the night, along with Lesnar vs. Cena. It’s also worth noting that CM Punk and AJ Lee vs. Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch could also get the spot, as it’s AJ’s first match in over ten years.
The full match card as of press time includes:
- Iyo Sky vs. Stephanie Vaquer for the vacant Women’s World Championship
- The Usos vs. The Vision (Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker)
- CM Punk and AJ Lee vs. Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch
- Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship
- John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar
WWE WrestlePalooza will take place on Saturday, September 20 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
