WrestleMania 43 could mark the end of another “streak” in WWE history.
The Undertaker’s WrestleMania win streak shockingly came to an end at WrestleMania 30 at the hands of Brock Lesnar. Thanks to WrestleMania 43 taking place outside of North America in 2027, another streak looks like it will come to an end as well.
Charlie Adorno, better known as “Ringside Charlie” in pro wrestling circles, has attended every single WrestleMania event where a ticket was sold. The lone exception was WrestleMania 36, which took place without fans because of the COVID-19 outbreak. Even still, Bruce Prichard still tried to find a way to make sure Charlie was there, although it didn’t ultimately happen.
Still, Adorno has been to each of the other 40 WrestleMania events. With the news that WrestleMania 43 is taking place in Saudi Arabia, that streak looks like it will end. Adorno spoke with Justin Barrasso for his Undisputed Substack and cited multiple reasons for not attending the 2027 event, including that fellow WWE Superfan Vladimir wouldn’t be able to make the trip with him.
“It would be nearly impossible to get Vlad there in his current condition with his back,” said Adorno. “Pardon the pun, but I’d feel like such a heel going without him. Vlad missed WrestleMania IV due to a sick relative–other than that, we’ve been to all of them together. I wouldn’t have fun without him, so I’m going to have to miss it.
“Plus, my girlfriend wouldn’t be too happy with me going so far away. And some of the country’s policies and laws are ones I don’t agree with. I know it’s supposedly getting better, but I don’t like how they treat women like second-class citizens.”
For now, Adorno plans to watch the event at his best friend, PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson’s house, in New York.
Many fans have expressed their issues with WWE taking its biggest event away from them. The fan response to last week’s initial announcement was overwhelmingly negative. It also causes plenty of uncertainty for the independent wrestling scene, which normally hosts live events and conventions in the WrestleMania host city each year.
Wrestling personalities like Bully Ray have encouraged AEW’s Tony Khan to run a major US-based show against WrestleMania in 2027. However, others, like Booker T, highlighted why it still might not be a great idea.
