John Cena and Adam Copeland were in action in their respective promotions this past weekend in AEW and WWE.
AEW and WWE clashed again this past weekend. AEW All Out 2025 took place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at the Scotiabank Arena. While, WWE aired its premium live event Wrestlepalooza on ESPN from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Both shows started with John Cena and Adam Copeland in action. Cena battled Brock Lesnar, but Lesnar completely destroyed the 17-time WWE World Champion. Over in AEW, Copeland teamed up with Christian Cage to defeat FTR in a tag team match.
After the match, FTR attacked Copeland’s wife, Beth Copeland, while Copeland was handcuffed to the ropes. Even with that brutal ending, Copeland created a touching moment in his match. He honored his longtime rival John Cena by hitting Cash Wheeler with a ‘You can’t see me’ taunt, landing the five knuckle shuffle and finishing with the Attitude Adjustment which got a huge ovation from the fans in the arena.
This tribute came just weeks after Cena honored him by using the spear in his match against Sami Zayn on WWE SmackDown. Now, Cena responded on Instagram by sharing a throwback photo of Edge holding the custom Rated R Superstar WWE title.
John Cena calls Adam Copeland one of his wrestling soulmates
With just a few appearances left on his retirement tour, John Cena took part in a Q&A last month at the Boston Fan Expo. When asked about his all-time favorite opponents, Cena listed a few names he considers to be his wrestling soulmates.
Cena said, “I have a few wrestling soulmates. Those are Randy Orton, Edge, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and AJ Styles. But gosh, I can’t take any shine away from Cody Rhodes – add him, too.”
