Ever since WWE went under new management, the promotion has been open to working with other wrestling companies. They have a working partnership with TNA and have also been working with the Japanese wrestling promotion, Pro Wrestling NOAH. Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff shared his thoughts on WWE’s working partnership with NOAH.
While speaking on the 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff shared that WWE working with Pro Wrestling NOAH will benefit NOAH in a huge way. He sees this as a great opportunity for the Japanese wrestling promotion.
“The impression I get is [that] NOAH, New Japan, whatever other wrestling organizations are out there – they’re treading water right now because the wrestling business overall in Japan has not been good in a long time. It sounds to me like it’s more of a strategic, kind of developmental opportunity than any kind of significant revenue opportunity, at least in the short and mid-term. Long-term? Could be great.” [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
Bischoff also shared that he believes that although these working relationships benefit the wrestling promotions, even if WWE purchases NOAH like it purchased AAA, it would not have a huge impact on the United States audience.
“No one will care outside of the internet wrestling community that likes to fixate and get excited about deals like this. Will you perhaps see somebody that wrestles predominantly over in NOAH make appearances in WWE programming, whether it’s NXT or whatever? Yeah, probably. Will it matter to anybody outside of Dave Meltzer and his ilk? No,” Eric Bischoff said.
Do you agree with Eric Bischoff?
