Arn Anderson Would’ve Had John Cena Dominate Brock Lesnar At WWE WrestlePalooza

Arn Anderson reveals how he would’ve booked Brock Lesnar versus John Cena at WWE WrestlePalooza.

Brock Lesnar versus John Cena kicked off WWE WrestlePalooza on September 20. The Beast displayed his dominance throughout the match, hitting Cena with five F5s before finally picking up the win with the sixth.

The outcome sparked a lot of controversy on social media, with ESPN singling out the match for not meeting fan expectations, despite it being part of the tail end of Cena’s retirement tour. A report claimed Cena wanted to put over his opponents on his way out, but fans countered that Lesnar didn’t need the win because of his status as an already established star.

WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson chimed in on the debate during a recent edition of his ARN podcast. Sharing his thoughts on the outcome, the former Horseman said he would’ve structured the match rather differently, with Cena dominating most of the action.

“I would have said, ‘Brock, you are an absolute gorilla, you’re a beast, you have beaten everybody that you’ve ever touched half to death, and the audience gets it. How would you feel about giving — in a shorter match, four to five minutes — giving Cena the entire match, and you catch him out of somewhere with a cheap shot and you hit your finish.’ And both guys win,” Arn said.

He continued: “That would have been my recommendation on how to structure it. Everybody wins. I’ve still got it mentally, I know what’s right and what’s wrong, and what you can do and get away with, and who lives in the mind of a wrestling fan, what they will accept and what they won’t, and what they appreciate. That just covered all the bases.”
