The next episode of WWE SmackDown will see Cody Rhodes team up with Randy Orton against The Vision’s Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker. Last week, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed attempted to overpower the American Nightmare before the Viper made the save. This resulted in their tag team match being made official for SmackDown this week.
Cody Rhodes appeared on Thursday’s episode of the Pat McAfee Show. Here, the Undisputed WWE Champion shared his reaction to teaming up with the Legend Killer. Rhodes expressed his love for the Heritage Bank Arena, which will be the host for this week’s blue brand show. Further, he talked about the Legend Killer and referred to him as a ‘mentor’.
Rhodes also discussed Orton’s future in WWE, pointing out that he wanted the match because no one knows how much time Orton has left in the squared circle.
“It’s Heritage Bank Arena, which is an arena I love, and it’s Randy Orton. Somebody who was a mentor to me in the game and no spoiler, Randy is—we don’t know how much longer Randy’s gonna be doing this. I don’t want that to creep up on me if we didn’t get one more good old-fashioned ‘Mega Power’ style tag with the guy who is partially responsible for me ever getting anywhere in WWE.”
Overall, it will be intriguing to see what will happen when Orton and Cody Rhodes team up on SmackDown. However, this fight won’t be an easy one for them, as Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed are also strong contenders.
Orton signed a five-year contract extension in 2024. He has not set a definitive retirement date, but has indicated that he’d love to wrestle into his 50s. Despite that, at 45, he’s closer to the end of his career than before.
