Mike Santana Pays Respect To Current Champion Following WWE NXT Showdown

Potential future TNA World Champion Mike Santana has a lot of respect for a current WWE NXT Champion.

Last night at WWE NXT Showdown, Mike Santana and Ricky Saints led their respective teams in the main event of the show. Santana’s team emerged victorious after the current TNA World Champion, Trick Williams, walked out on Saints, leaving him to fend for himself.

Ahead of his championship match this weekend with Trick Williams at TNA Bound For Glory, Mike Santana took to social media to pay respect to Ricky Saints, calling him a true champion, tweeting out:

“Respect and props where they’re due. @starkmanjones, you should be proud. You fought your ass off to the very end. With the heart of a warrior and TRUE champion. Wasn’t our first and won’t be our last… From captain to captain. RESPECT. #NXTShowdown,” Mike Santana said in a post.

This isn’t the first time that Mike Santana and Ricky Saints have shared a ring together

While NXT Showdown was likely the first time many wrestling fans have seen Santana and Saints go at it, this isn’t the first time they’ve shared the ring together.

Both Saints and Santana competed in the Casino Battle Royale at AEW All Out in 2020. However, neither man emerged victorious; that match was won by Lance Archer.

Five years later, Santana and Saints would have their first one-on-one match at House of Glory. In this match, Santana successfully defended the House of Glory World Championship against Saints.

Based on the landscape of both brands at the moment, we feel like it’s only a matter of time before these two men share the ring again.
