Alexa Bliss says her pairing with Charlotte Flair has been fun, but it also happened randomly.
Bliss spoke with Baby Huey on his In The Kliq podcast about working with Flair in WWE. She said she threw out the idea after the WWE Creative team had a list of people in need of storylines. Bliss cited her history with Flair as providing a fun, odd couple-like dynamic, which has paid off.
“It’s been so fun working with Charlotte. This was something that came about very randomly. We were talking to creative, and I kinda like threw it out there,” Bliss explained (H/T WrestleTalk). “They gave me a list of names of people who were in this little bubble of needing storylines, and I was like, ‘What about Charlotte? We have this long past, that could be a fun dynamic, these two people who don’t normally get along with other people or have success with other people, getting stuck together.’
“It’s been super fun, and we’ve been having fun with it. Our entrances, our little pushing and shoving, that’s just us improv-ing and just having fun with it. It’s been a lot of fun, and I was right—we would be successful, because now we’re Tag Team Champions.”
Flair previously told WrestleZone that Bliss had some creative ideas, and one of them was to pair with each other. She also said it speaks volumes that Bliss got her to turn babyface.
Bliss says that now, fans get to see a different side of her and Charlotte, which has also allowed her to open up as a character. She also believes that dynamic is why they resonate with fans.
“Because we saw before, a character [Flair] that was mainly going for a singles title. And then my character was never really one, after joining Bray, was never really focused on any titles,” Bliss explained. “I think that’s why it naturally resonates with audiences, that we’re having fun and it allows the audience to have fun with us.”
