Jazmyn Nyx wasn’t expecting to leave NXT, but WWE’s lack of flexibility in offering her a better deal ultimately led to her departure from the company.
It’s been nearly a month since Nyx (real name Jade Gentile) announced her decision to part ways with WWE over financial disagreements. The former soccer player had a brief stint on the company’s third brand as one-third of Fatal Influence.
Nyx was written off television in a backstage attack angle that saw Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley abandon her. Fatal Influence has since regained its third member in Lainey Reid, who revealed herself as the attacker of both Lola Vice and Nyx.
The former NXT star previously shared that the terms of her new WWE contract played a major role in her decision to leave, implying that she was earning less than $80,000.
Jazmyn Nyx details her negotiations with WWE
During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Jazmyn Nyx revealed she would’ve accepted even a modest raise, but WWE refused to adjust their original offer—ultimately forcing her to turn it down.
“I just wanted any compensation,” she said. “I felt, after three years, there could have been a meet in the middle. After I realized there was no budge, that’s where it stood. There is nothing else I can do or say. Any sort of raise would do, and there was no raise. Yeah, just based off people who were coming in like me at that rate. After two years of being on TV every Tuesday, working for TNA as well, I felt like a raise would be understandable.
“If they felt like that was my value at that time, then I didn’t see it changing much. In terms of cost of living, there is nothing you can really say. Cost of living goes up every year. You have to make a living. If you don’t get a raise, you’re losing money. That’s how I looked at it.” [H/T: Fightful]
