Brodido has shared why AEW President Tony Khan decided to make them into a tag team.
Reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions Brody King and Bandido recently appeared on Close Up with Renee Paquette and revealed how they became a tag team. When Paquette asked them about how Brodido came to be, Brody King said Tony Khan must’ve gotten the idea from an all-star tag team match they were booked in.
“I think it was just one of those all-star, Tony Khan, every good wrestler in a match together, and then like, we just had great chemistry together,” Brody King said.
When asked if Khan knew they were already long-time friends, King and Bandido said that while he might not have known before, the AEW President had his mind blown after seeing their secret handshake.
“I don’t think so,” Brody King continued, “No, because then we started doing the handshake, he was, like, mindblown.”
Bandido chimed in, saying, “I think that was the beginning, that was the beginning of Brodido, the handshake. Because when we got to the ring, Tony saw us do the handshake before we go to the entrance.”
“The handshake is probably eight years old at this point,” Brody King said.
Brodido’s Next Title Defense Is Set For AEW Full Gear
After successfully defending the AEW World Tag Team Championship against Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita of the Don Callis Family at WrestleDream, Brodido has their next defense scheduled for AEW Full Gear on November 22.
Brodido will defend their title against FTR at the event. Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood earned the opportunity by defeating JetSpeed, Jurassic Express, and The Young Bucks in a massive four-way No.1 contenders tag team match on last week’s Friday Night Dynamite.
AEW Full Gear will emanate from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. It will also feature an AEW World Championship rematch between Hangman Page and Samoa Joe, as well as a Women’s World Championship match between Kris Statlander and Mercedes Moné.
