Cody Rhodes Says Offer To Play Guile In Street Fighter Was A Surprise To Him

Cody Rhodes recalls the moment he was offered the role of Guile in the upcoming Street Fighter live-action movie.

Speaking on the All The Smoke podcast during a new interview, the Undisputed WWE Champion was asked for his thoughts on the film. Rhodes had nothing but praise for the cast, saying he was “blessed to be part of” the project.

“I was so glad I got to do that, (to) try to tell stories in a different way, and that crew — Callina (Lian), (Andrew) Koji, Noah (Centineo), the three leads of this movie, Andrew Schulz, 50 Cent is playing Balrog — it was such a ridiculous moment to have everyone on set, but it was so well organized. We were rehearsing like we were actually gonna be fighting somebody,” he said.

“On the weekend, because everybody was locked in Australia, going over all the dialogue together, it was just a really well-oiled machine.”

Cody Rhodes on his conversation with Legendary Pictures

Cody Rhodes said he initially thought he was going in for a general meeting with Legendary Pictures, only to find out they already wanted him to play Guile in Street Fighter.

“I went into a meeting thinking I was gonna talk to them about other stuff, and they told me, ‘We want you for Guile.’ And I know the role, I used to play (Street Fighter),” he said.

Street Fighter is slated for release on October 16, 2026. The movie also stars Roman Reigns as Akuma, Jason Momoa as Blanka, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, and Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim.
