Bray Wyatt’s Alma Mater Names Wrestling Tournament After Him

The late Bray Wyatt has a wrestling tournament named after him by his old high school.

Bray Wyatt attended Hernando High School in  Brooksville, Florida, and was a part of its wrestling and football teams. The school’s wrestling club, run by David Pritz, Wyatt’s old teammate, announced on Instagram that its December 5-6 tournament will be renamed The Windham Rotunda Memorial Invitational, in honor of the late WWE Superstar.

The post also mentioned that a scholarship fund has been created in Bray Wyatt’s name, and that it will be awarded to one senior wrestler every year before the tournament.

“EXCITING NEWS!

“With the blessing of the Rotunda Family and Brooksville Kiwanis we are changing the name of the long lasting Kiwanis Invitational to the Windham Rotunda Memorial Invitational. We also are creating a scholarship fund in his name that will be presented to one senior wrestler every year before the finals of the tournament.

“This will be our 44th year hosting one of the most established high school wrestling tournaments in the state of Florida. Windham was my teammate and one of the most memorable athletes to ever wear the Purple and Gold. I hope this can be a small tribute to his lasting legacy. He is a true legend and someone we will never forget.

Bray Wyatt’s sister, Mika Rotunda, reacted to the post, saying, “Showed dad this! We both cried.”

An EX-WWE Writer Said A Real Cult Leader Wanted To Meet Bray Wyatt

Speaking on Freddie Prinze Jr’s Wrestling with Freddie podcast, former WWE writer Nick Manfredini claimed that after watching Bray Wyatt’s promos in his Wyatt Family cult leader character, infamous real-life cult leader Charles Manson wanted to meet the former WWE Champion.

“Charles Manson… I don’t know if this story has ever been told. Windham [Wyatt’s real name was Windham Rotunda] Windham’s teammate, former college football teammate became a prison guard at Charles Manson’s prison. Allegedly this guy showed Manson the Bray Wyatt promos and he wanted to meet him and this was a whole thing, I swear. It is a hundred percent true.”

“So Mike Rotunda knew about it and I think he brought it up to somebody, I don’t know if it was Hunter or Vince or somebody, and they immediately squashed it. Cuz they were like, can we shoot a [WWE] Network special with Charles Manson? And it was immediately squashed.” [H/T f4wonline]
