Baron Corbin Details Bray Wyatt’s Last Message To Him

Baron Corbin recounts Bray Wyatt’s final text message conversation with him.

The WWE Universe still finds it hard to believe that Bray Wyatt is gone. Windham Rotunda passed away on August 24, 2023, less than a year after his triumphant return to the promotion under Triple H.

Often described as a creative genius by the likes of The Undertaker and John Cena, Windham’s commitment to his character was second to none. That dedication is what made Bray Wyatt one of the most popular gimmicks of his time.

Speaking of that commitment, former WWE Superstar Baron Corbin recently recalled how deeply attached Bray Wyatt was to his work. Speaking on Off The Ropes, Corbin, who now goes by Bishop Dyer, remembered the last text message Windham sent him prior to his passing.

“I looked back and I still have the last message that was sent between us. He sent a voice memo, because he hadn’t replied in a couple of days and I was texting with him, and he’s like, ‘Sorry, I’ve been in the woods just finding new stuff for the character.’

“He just would tromp through the woods up where he lived and think about his character development, think about what it can do and how to protect it, and how to make it believable.”

“Because there were times, especially with The Fiend, where it’s like, ‘Well, what do we do with this? Because he can’t be killed, he’s this absolute monster.’ But he would find creative ways.

“And he was always changing, and the promos, and the stories he would tell. He is the true definition of a creative mind with an amazing character and just kind of letting him be him,” Dyer said. [H/T WrestleTalk]

As of this writing, Bishop Dyer is one-half of the MLW World Tag Team Champions alongside Dijak. The two are collectively known as The Skyscrapers.
