Willow Nightingale has put over these AEW stars for playing their part in setting the bar for what deathmatch wrestling can be.
Speaking to Uncrowned’s Cameron Hawkins in a new interview, Willow Nightingale credited the first women’s tag team street fight in All Elite Wrestling — featuring Penelope Ford, The Bunny, Tay Melo, and Anna Jay — for setting the precedent for deathmatches in the company.
“I really give a lot of credit to [Penelope Ford] and The Bunny and TayJay for that first hard street fight that they had as a tag, because that set the precedent,” she said. “… I have to credit Stat (Kris Statlander) a lot, too, because we did a lot of those as a tag. And for whatever personal feelings I may have against her, I can never gloss over the fact that she has such an incredible brain for wrestling, whether that be through her athleticism or her gory, sadistic mind.”
Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander will be part of the first Women’s Blood and Guts match in AEW history, airing live tonight on Dynamite. The former tag team partners will join forces with Toni Storm, Mina Shirakawa, and Harley Cameron against Mercedes Moné, Megan Bayne, Marina Shafir, and the Triangle of Madness (Thekla, Julia Hart, and Skye Blue).
Here’s what else is on tap for the November 12 episode of AEW Dynamite:
