Willow Nightingale sent a clear message to AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla just days before their championship clash at AEW Redemption.
During a heated face-to-face on the July 22 episode of AEW Dynamite, Nightingale warned that she is prepared to embrace a far more dangerous side in pursuit of the title.
The confrontation, moderated by hardcore legend Mick Foley, quickly spiraled into chaos before either competitor could leave the ring peacefully.

Foley introduced both competitors before reflecting on why he connected with Nightingale’s journey. The WWE Hall of Famer said he saw a lot of himself in the challenger because they had both endured tremendous punishment while continuing to smile through it all. He joked that Nightingale’s smile “has more teeth” than his ever did.
Thekla did not seem impressed.
The champion dismissed Nightingale’s positive attitude as a facade, claiming her trademark smile was simply a mask hiding deeper emotions. She vowed to expose what she described as the “real” Willow at Redemption.
Nightingale fired back. She accused Thekla of projecting her own insecurities and made it clear that the AEW Women’s World Championship was the only prize she cared about. She then turned her attention to Foley before issuing a warning to the champion.
“Thekla’s the one acting like a dumb bitch now.”
Nightingale continued by paying tribute to Foley’s legendary career while promising she would follow his example if it meant leaving Redemption as champion.
“Not only is Foley my favorite, he’s a legend… Mick has done sick and twisted things in the ring and I’d be happy to do the same to Thekla.”
Thekla responded by predicting Nightingale would leave Redemption “battered and broken” before blindsiding her with a microphone after telling Foley to “shut the hell up.” The champion even used Foley as a human shield before landing the cheap shot.
However, the final image belonged to Nightingale. She recovered moments later and flattened Thekla with a thunderous Pounce that sent the champion flying out of the ring. With Mercedes Moné awaiting the winner at AEW All In, the stakes couldn’t be much higher.
If Nightingale follows through on her promise, Redemption could become anything but a soft landing — and Foley would likely appreciate the hardcore callback.
