TNA Star Announces His Plans To Retire

Johnny Dango Curtis is calling it a career.

Thursday’s episode of TNA Impact saw JDC, fka Fandango and Dirty Dango, announce that he will be retiring from in-ring competition in the near future.

Dango shared that he just got married two months ago, and his System stablemates were at the wedding. He joked that Moose made a fool of himself on the dance floor, while Tommy Dreamer wore a Ribera jacket to the wedding. Dango said he and his wife have been talking over the past few weeks, and they reached a decision together. He then announced that he will retire after TNA Genesis, which takes place in Dallas, Texas in January.

“We decided after Genesis in January that I’m going to be retiring from in-ring action,” JDC told the Full Sail crowd. “I didn’t want to just throw this at you guys out here, but I wanted to do it in Orlando at Full Sail because this place means the friggin’ world to me.

JDC is very grateful for his time in TNA

“And I am so grateful for the last 27 years I have spent in this business. I’m grateful for you guys, I’m grateful for the WWE, I’m grateful for TNA. I’ve spent a lot of time being ungrateful in this business, but right now, I’m telling you now that I am very grateful for my last couple years here in TNA. This is the best locker room I’ve ever been in, and I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart.”

Dango said that he knows there will be a void in the System, but he’ll help the rest of the group decide how they’ll move on in his absence. Despite some event details being announced, TNA has not announced an exact date for Genesis.

Curtis is best known for his run as Fandango in WWE, where he was a former NXT Tag Team Champion with Tyler Breeze. His WWE career lasted 15 years before he joined TNA in 2022.

Thursday’s episode of TNA Impact featured other surprising moments, including Frankie Kazarian shockingly winning the TNA World Championship from Mike Santana.
