Who stepped up to challenge LA Knight tonight on WWE SmackDown?
During Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Zack Ryder made a surprise return to WWE to face off against LA Knight. The match came as part of John Cena’s “The Last Time is Now” Tournament, which looks to crown the final opponent for Cena next month.
Ryder, who now wrestles as Matt Cardona, went at it with Knight in his home state of New York. Unfortunately for fans of Ryder, though, it was Knight’s match to lose. In the end, he defeated Ryder wth a vicious BFT. Knight will now advance in the tournament, although his next opponent is unknown.
During Saturday Night’s Main Event, WWE announced that next week’s episode of RAW would kickstart a 16-man tournament. Titled The Last Time is Now Tournament. The tournament’s winner will be the one to face off against Cena at his final ever match, on the December 13, 2025 rendition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Earlier tonight, Jey Uso also advanced in the tournament, defeating The Miz in singles action. The rest of the tournament is still ongoing, with other matches set to take place next week on WWE RAW.
